Q: Ok..what gives with the ratings? Why is the rating system, whatever it is, different for some tournaments and leagues? It seems to me that some people are allowed to "play down" in the USTA events and leagues. I am so tired of losing to players who are playing at a lower level than they should be. Should I just play down at a lower level myself? Our club ratings certainly don't reflect the USTA ratings. Thank you

A: USTA events allow players to enter a division that is equal to their USTA rating level. Other non USTA events require that players enter a division that is equal to their highest playing ability or club racking. It is the work of the Tournament/Seeding Committee to work to see that all players in the event are in the correct division. Brian
